SkipperBud’s – Cass Lake Marina Update

April 2019 News

SkipperBud’s new Cass Lake Marina is built on a site which had its first marina established in the 1950’s. The marina site has been through many facelifts and names throughout the years, Cass Lake Marina, Sun and Ski Marina and Island Cove Marina to name a few.

SkipperBud’s began construction of the new Cass Lake Marina facility last June. The new campus will feature a drystack building and marina, boat maintenance and repair facility, two story sales facility and a marine parts and accessories department. The marina will have all new dockage with a brand new gas dock, new pumps and dispensers. The overhaul of the site also includes an all new infrastructure for gas, electric, sewer, water and storm water management. The new marina campus is not only state of the art, it is also environmentally friendly. Bio-swales and rain gardens have been included in the landscape design to help capture and filter storm water as opposed to running directly to the lake. The environmentally friendly design also includes a boat wash down area with holding tank. SkipperBud’s - Cass Lake Marina is currently in the process of applying for Michigan Clean Marina Status.

SkipperBud’s on site construction manager is Roncelli inc.. SkipperBud’s Vice President, Mark Ellerbrock states “We couldn’t be happier with the quality of workmanship and attention to detail provided by Roncelli. It has been a great relationship and a great experience working with the Roncelli team of professionals."

The final touches are currently underway with new docks going in the water and the final grading and paving being completed. Landscaping is getting ready to go in. “There is a lot going on in the next 45 days” Says Shawn Carper, SkipperBud’s Cass Lake Marina, Operations Manager, “throughout the construction we have remained open.” Although finishing touches are being completed, the sales and service departments are still open 7 days a week. Call for any boat sales or service needs.

Shawn is excited about the new drystack services, “We still have some drystack spots available if you are looking for premier and convenient access to Cass Lake for your boat this summer. Our drystack service keeps your boat inside under roof, in a rack. When you want to use your boat, just give us a call an hour or more ahead of time. We will use our customized marina forklift to launch your boat, have it in the water ready for you to go out and enjoy the lake. When you return from your boating adventures, we return your boat to the drystack building, where it remains out of the elements, safe and secure until your next use."

SkipperBud’s will be hosting Grand-Opening festivities for the new marina in Mid-July. Stay posted for details, dates and times.
