Complex Data Reined-in with Stylish Touchscreen

January 2023 News

Veratron's latest addition to its line of premium marine instruments makes managing more than 40 complex sets of onboard system data simple. The new easily-configured best-in-class VMH 70 7" touchscreen instantly displays input from up to four NMEA 2000® networked engines, or two using SAE J1939 CAN protocols, as well readings from a wealth of other mission-critical sensor types.

Drawing on its VDO Marine DNA, the Veratron VMH 70 is on the cutting edge of marine instrumentation. With an ultra-slim profile and aluminum case, the sun-readable IPS TFT display has a mineral glass front lens for an elegant look and feel. An integrated light sensor automatically adjusts for readability while lateral RGB illuminated touch buttons provide quick brightness adjustment. Built for a harsh marine environment, the Veratron VMH 70 is IPX7 rated to withstand complete submersion for 30 minutes in 3' of water.

With its embedded analog-to-NMEA 2000 gateway, every sensor reading is transmitted on the network. Beyond NMEA and J1939 engine inputs, it has two frequency inputs for RPM data, six resistive sensor inputs as well as three rated 0-5V and two for 4-20mA, two EasyLink channels and two composite video inputs. This array provides the potential to harness system data from GPS antennas, batteries, vessel transmissions and cameras, plus that of water, waste and fuel tanks. It will also display vessel pitch and roll, rudder and trim, wind and weather, trip and distance and MediaBox radio signals with the applicable sensors.

With so much information available, the Veratron VMH 70 is surprisingly simple to configure sensor data and set alarms. Intuitive to use, both the startup and GUI screens are easily customized to best serve the needs of the vessel and its crew.

The 8.6" L x 5" W VMH 70 display features full 24-bit color at 800 x 480 resolution for lifelike clarity. Yet with all this vivid brightness, the device draws a mere 1.2A @ 12V with full backlight intensity, and ≤200mA in standby mode. It runs on 12/24V nominal and 9-32V operating. Manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 standards, it complies with CE, UKCA, Reach and RoHS. The Veratron VMH 70 has an MSRP of $1,132.99.
