WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency are in a mud fight over where to put sediment that's dredged from the bottom of the Cuyahoga River and Cleveland Harbor each year so ships can navigate them.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency hasĀ
repeatedly said it won't let the federal agency charged with harbor maintenance dump dredged material in Lake Erie because the muck contains toxic PCBs that endanger fish.
