Over the last few weeks, we at Great Lakes Boating have searched high and low—from Instagram to Google and from Lake Superior to Lake Ontario—to bring you the best Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs) of summer 2018. No matter if you are an experienced fisher who has a taste for speed or a beginner yogi looking for inspiration, we know you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Just do us a favor and remember us when you get Instagram famous for posting a picture on your sweet new SUP, okay?

YOLO 12’HAMMERHEAD EXPLORER SUP

The YOLO 12’ Hammerhead Explorer definitely lives up to its name. Wrapped in sturdy ABS thermoformed plastic, the fiberglass board is tough and ready to see you through your most exhilarating adventures. On their website, YOLO shares a video of the board being hit with a baseball bat. Hit after hit, it shines without scratching or denting—a real trooper that will look brand new after a long day of paddling.

At only 32 lbs., the board is light enough to carry comfortably and hefty enough to support most paddlers.

“Big men this is your board … I’m 6ft 230. Stable enough for me and my four year old daughter and gear,” Travis A. from Lynn Haven, Florida, said in a review.

To make it even better, the Hammerhead has a rail guard that provides additional protection and cuts directly through the water, making it easy to navigate.

With plenty of support, protection, agility, and a price tag under $1000, we’d say this one’s a keeper.
