Guided Tour—Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin

This Seaside Town Has It All

May 2017 Colin Peterson

Sturgeon Bay is located in Door County in northeastern Wisconsin. Connecting Green Bay to Lake Michigan, Sturgeon Bay is way more than just a pit stop along the Great Lake. It’s a seaside town that offers plenty of recreational activity, relaxation, and exploration opportunity. Its local marinas (such as Stone Harbor) are beyond committed to making boaters feel welcome, even if they’re just making a short one- or two-hour stop. To help explain what’s truly unique about this area, we spoke to Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center executive director Pam Seiler and Stone Harbor Resort co-owner Nancy Bertz.

Sturgeon Bay is in the Cape Cod of the Midwest,” says Seiler. “During the summer, the weather here is excellent for boating as temperatures range around the mid 60s to the mid 80s.”

“The sky is clear blue with a slight breeze from the water,” adds Bertz. “Evenings are warm enough to sit outside and enjoy dinner on the patio or drinks at the tiki bar!” Getting around the area is easy by walking, but taxis are also offered if you want to expand your horizons a bit.
