September 2020 Feature

GLB: Where have you boated in the Great Lakes region?

T: We’ve boated on Lake Michigan, the Straits of Mackinac, Lake Huron, the North Channel, Georgian Bay, Lake Superior, Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and back to Lake Charlevoix, our home port.

GLB: What kind of boat do you have?

T: Our power boat is a 4600 SCB Maxum with twin Cummins Diesel.

GLB: What impact has boating had on your life?

T: Adventures with family and rendezvous with friends in the Great Lakes Cruising Club have created lifetime friendships.

GLB: What made you decide to start boating?

T: Boating has always been a part of our lives. We can’t get enough of cruising on Lake Charlevoix and the sparkling turquoise water.

GLB: What is one of your favorite boating memories?

T: There are so many, especially at Mackinac Island. Docking at Mackinac Island State Harbor Marina never gets old.

GLB: What do you think is something important our readers should know that you've learned through your own experiences?

T: Respect the Great Lakes. Take boating classes and join your local U.S. Power Squadron (America’s Boating Club). Also, join a boating group such as the Great Lakes Cruising Club.
