In 1905, Chester A. Congdon built his family a luxurious mansion. Little did he know that 72 years later his home would be famous for a double murder rather than the ornate and posh amenities he had adorned the home with. Elizabeth Congdon and her nurse Velma Pietila were murdered on June 22, 1977. Sources say her adopted daughter and husband were the murderers as they had the most to gain from Elizabeth’s death. Today tours are available of the home and pictures are allowed and encouraged to be taken inside and out while on the tour.
