Compact Multifunction Gauge Now Supports Trim Sensor

November 2022 News

With the Veratron VMH 35 black-glass gauge, owners of single-engine boats with an NMEA 2000® backbone cable have fingertip access to 30 types of vessel and navigation data, and now outboard trim level. At less than 4" in diameter, it's the ideal display solution for small consoles, dashboards and bulkheads.

Perfect for installing in exposed locations, the stylish Veratron VMH 35 is waterproof to IPX7 standards, both front and back. A brushed stainless steel frame encircles the new-generation, sun-readable color hybrid TFT display that features a mineral glass lens. Depending on the sensor input and user-chosen layout, the gauge will display bright, crisp numeric values, bar graphs and/or warning indicators. Two soft-touch buttons allow users to configure and cycle through data sets, plus set alarm thresholds.

The VMH 35 has an embedded NMEA 2000 gateway as well as analog inputs for use with older engines. Sensor data such as RPM, boost pressure, gear position, and coolant and oil temperature and pressure provide owners with critical propulsion information. Additional vessel information includes rudder angle, inboard and outboard trim—with a dedicated 0-5V input—and fuel, fresh and wastewater levels.

An additional port in the VMH 35 provides the ability to add the innovative Veratron IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor). The gauge can then provide 12V battery voltage, temperature, state of charge and health, and ammeter data.

The Veratron VMH 35 has an integrated high-performance GPS/GLONASS/Galileo GNSS receiver. It will display navigation data such as position, heading with 0.3° accuracy and speed to within 0.1 mph. With performance figures comparable to standalone products, it has a 10 Hz update rate, 72 channels and a tracking sensitivity of -165 dBm.

Requiring only a 3-3/8" cutout, the VMH 35 features NMEA 2000 plug-and-play connectivity. The gauge has Molex MX‑150 12-pin and DeviceNet M12 5-pin plugs. It draws very little power: <15mA in normal mode, 170mA when set to maximum brightness and <120µA when sleeping.

The Veratron VMH 35 is UKCA and CE marked, REACH and RoHS compliant and UL listed. It comes with a two-year warranty and costs $269.99.
