Ritchie Compass for Small Boats Overcomes Navigation Issues

November 2021 News

Many small boat owners rely on landmarks on shore to guide them—until heavy rain or fog rolls in. Others depend on GPS, but when motoring slowly it only provides bearing, not the direction of travel. Designed for vessels from 16' to 35', the SuperSport Venture SS-PR2 magnetic compass from Ritchie Navigation delivers an accurate heading to stay on course, no matter the conditions or speed.

Made in the USA, the SuperSport Venture mounts on a dash or vertical bulkhead up to 40°. The included Compensator Module allows the compass to be installed around steel and aluminum without affecting deviation. It has a blue 3-3/4" CombiDial™ card with 30° heading numbers on the side and cardinal directives on top. Orange 45° lubber lines on the dome and integrated blue LED lighting make for easy reading.

Because smaller boats are affected by sea state, the SuperSport Venture dial is set on a hardened steel pivot movement with a scientifically-matched triple-cup sapphire jewel. Powerful DirectForce™ Magnets provide a fast and smooth heading lock-on. This eliminates the dial spinning and jumping common in choppy water. A cover is included to protect it when not in use.

The SuperSport Venture SS-PR2 has a durable 6" H x 6-3/8" W polymer base that requires a 4-5/8" hole and four 15/64" bolt holes. It's 100% repairable, comes with a five-year warranty and costs $217.35.
