Over 2,500 people voted in this year’s “Best Harbor in the U.S.” contest that ran online at https://usharbors.com from mid-April through May 31st, 2021. Out of the 1,400 harbors for which US Harbors provides coastal weather, tides, and boating/fishing information, people voted for 335 different locations from Maine to Hawaii, from Alaska to Florida, and in the Great Lakes. Local communities were vying intensely for the top spot, up until the final moments of the contest. Being crowned the “Best Harbor in the U.S.” for the year has a direct impact on their local community that is greater than just increasing their pride of place; it has economic and cultural benefits also. In addition to a Grand Winner, this year US Harbors is recognizing new Regional Winners.
