Yacht Works, Inc., is a multi-faceted marine business located on Wisconsin’s Door County Peninsula on the shores of Green Bay in the village of Sister Bay. Co-owners Russell Forkert and Deb Duren have run the business at the current locale since 1983, with a three-armed approach to the local boating industry.

One branch is a full-service boatyard specializing in all aspects of repair, ranging from outboard tune-ups to million-dollar, large yacht retroﬁts. Repair technicians with more than 150 years of combined experience are ready to assist with mechanical and ﬁberglass repairs, painting, and electronics sales and installation.

The marina at Sister Bay encompasses 72 slips, a 75-foot fuel dock that dispenses gas and diesel, wall space for yachts up to 150 feet in length, on-site restaurants and a fully-stocked ship’s chandlery.

Michigan City's Marinas

If you’re looking for a park-like atmosphere, blue skies and sandy beaches to moor your boat; with access to ﬁne dining, shopping, gambling and the Michigan City In-Water Boat Show, consider one of Michigan City’s marinas. The Port Authority of Michigan City operates several marinas on the southern shore of Lake Michigan.

The Washington Park Marina can accommodate more than 500 boats, including power boats, sail boats and PWCs. Seasonal slip sizes range from 25 feet up to 100 feet, with water, electricity, a secure, gated key entry, and parking included in a slip fee. Fuel may be purchased at a state-of-the-art fuel dock, and pump outs are available at no charge with a fuel purchase. Slipholders may choose to take advantage of the reasonable rates of the weekly dockside pump-out service also available. Washington Park’s season begins April 1 and ends Nov. 1 each year.

Rogers City Marina

Rogers City is a beautiful, well-protected harbor, with an excellent state-funded marina. It is located on Lake Huron in northeast Michigan. The center of town is two blocks from the marina. Rogers City is a great place to catch a variety of ﬁsh, including salmon. It is known as the Gateway to the North Channel.

The Rogers City Marina has a total of 123 slips—103 are ﬂoating docks and 20 are stationary. The marina will always make room for the transient boater. The harbor now has free boater WiFi and a Facebook page.

Features that are near this marina make it a wonderful place for boaters with children. These include an excellent swimming beach, a playground, a park with bandshell used for regular concerts all summer, plus volleyball and basketball courts, as well as the full facilities of a small city.

Washburn Marina

Washburn Marina is a natural, deepwater harbor, on the shores of Chequamegon Bay, in western Lake Superior. Providing easy access to outstanding ﬁshing and sailing, it is the gateway to the Apostle Islands.

Conveniently located in the coastal community of Washburn, Wis., the marina has 138 slips. Touting more than three acres of land space and 30,000 square feet of indoor storage space, the marina accommodates both recreational boaters and commercial vessels. A 150-ton Travelift makes hauling and launching a wide variety of vessels possible.

Boaters at the Washburn Marina enjoy clean grounds and restrooms with showers, picnic areas with gas grills and a friendly staff. A short walk takes them to the main street of Washburn.

The marina offers a full complement of services and products. The fueling station is easily accessible to all with ethanol-free gasoline and diesel. A pump-out station is also available.

Marina Profile: Collins Bay Marina

Collins Bay Marina is a family-owned and -operated, 300-slip facility located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Situated between the Thousand Islands and the inland waters of Prince Edward County, it is home to boaters in a stunningly beautiful cruising area. Sailors enjoy the open waters and the faithful winds that brought the Summer Olympic sailing events to Kingston in 1976.

Protected by Amherst Island and the gentle curve of the bay, the marina is a secure weather hole affording excellent protection to boaters when Lake Ontario threatens.

Humbug Marina, Inc.

Humbug Marina offers a beautiful lakefront and a full-service marina. Located in Gibraltar, Mich., the marina is conveniently located two miles from I-75, halfway between Detroit and Toledo, “Where the Detroit River Meets Lake Erie.”

There are 600 slips for vessels of up to 55 feet in length, during a full boating season from April 1 to Nov. 1. Additionally, the Rack & Launch facility berths another 316 boats up to 40 feet in length. Seasonal rates range from $785 to $2,100, with new customers receiving a 15 percent discount during their ﬁrst season. Humbug also offers three forms of winter storage: Marinainside, outside and wet. Winterizing and shrink wrap are also available.

Marina Profile: Eldean Shipyard

Eldean Shipyard is located in Macatawa, Michigan, just five miles west of Holland, on the south shore of Lake Macatawa, where it joins Lake Michigan. It is one of the oldest active shipyard-marina complexes in the United States. It began as the Jesiek Brothers Shipyard in 1901. Today, the shipyard is an award-winning marina, as well as a Certified Michigan Clean Marina.
