For more than 100 years, the Lake Erie basin has housed a gathering place for boaters and non-boaters alike. The Maumee River Yacht Club (MRYC) was founded in 1899, and is located approximately three miles upriver from downtown Toledo, Ohio, on the banks of the Maumee River.

The club has numerous amenities, including a tri-level main clubhouse; a full-service restaurant with Commodore’s Lounge and upper deck; and an informal Tap Room with lower patio. It also has a newly decorated, multi-purpose banquet room, complete with veranda and stunning view of the Maumee River. The club also offers a large, in-ground swimming pool, complete with children’s pool and playground; and a sun deck with adjacent pool and snack bar, decorated in a Key-West theme.

The MRYC’s docks are wide, stable, floating docks which can accommodate vessels as long as 60 feet. The club also offers shower and dressing rooms, washer-and-dryer facilities, grilling and picnic areas, and a small basketball court. Other club amenities include “The Boatique,” a store that sells MRYC apparel and accessories; WiFi service availability; “The Beacon,” a monthly newsletter e-mailed to members with a calendar of upcoming events and news; boat pump-out facilities; and club-sponsored boat cruises to favorite destinations around the Great Lakes.

Parties and events take place throughout the year, including Homecoming, an annual, weekend regatta held in August; a party to welcome new members; monthly champagne brunches; a “Change of Watch” ceremony for inducting new officers and trustees; a Commodore’s Ball; a children’s Christmas party; Thursday-night cookouts, and an annual cruise. The MRYC also hosts a Halloween Costume Party, a Docktail Party, a Christmas in July celebration, a Tropics Party and a St. Patrick’s Day event. AYC and ILYA members are always welcome. In addition, the world-famous Toledo Zoo and the beautiful Walbridge Park, complete with walking paths, are just a short walk from the club.
