Solutions to local harbor struggles surfacing at state level
Saugatuck-State Rep. Bob Genetski sees the impact of low Great Lakes water levels every day — muddy islands forming in Kalamazoo Lake and silt choking the harbor in his Saugatuck district. The Republican lawmaker recently proposed a bill in the state House to make money available from a trust fund normally used to purchase land for public use for dredging of recreational harbors.
