Irwin Jacobs' new boat venture is thriving

Irwin Jacobs, who's preparing for the Minneapolis Boat Show this week, says his boating business is "worlds away" from where it was two years ago. Given where it was back then, that's pretty good.

In early 2010, Jacobs had just completed buying a handful of boat brands from Genmar    , his former company that had gone bankrupt. The deal has turned out well, the Star Tribune reports: Larson Boats' manufacturing home, in Little Falls, now employs 255 people and is planning to rehire more employees that were laid off during Genmar's troubles.
