Sept 11 funds target local disasters

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - It's a place to cool off in the summer, or watch the sunset. But Lake Michigan also supplies water to most of West Michigan

From the tap in your kitchen, to the factory where you work, to the trauma center that saves your life, if terrorists wanted to make their mark on West Michigan, intake pipes located offshore could be a prime target.

Securing West Michigan's water supply is just one example of how millions of dollars in Homeland Security funds have been spent since the September 11, 2001 attacks.
