Water quality in lakes declining

Water quality in the Great Lakes improved steadily for two decades, but that progress has stalled and may even be reversing, a U.S.-Canadian panel concluded. The U.S.-Canadian International Joint Commission reported Wednesday that agricultural runoff and other sources of pollution are compromising the two nations' decades-long effort to clean the lakes, and officials urged the countries' governments to recommit to the fight.
