NCR, Appleton Papers must pay $700M Fox River cleanup cost
A major federal court ruling leaves the bulk of the responsibility for the estimated $700 million Fox River cleanup to NCR Corp. and Appleton Papers. U.S. District Judge William Griesbach said the companies couldn't share the PCB cleanup expense — estimated by some to be closer to $1 billion — with the numerous companies and municipalities that had a role in dumping pollution into the river.
