WI will get chance to weigh in on Asian carp plan

Southeastern Wisconsin residents will get a chance next week to tell the federal government how it should be waging the fight to keep Asian carp from migrating up the Chicago canal system and into Lake Michigan. Congress directed the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2007 to explore ways to "prevent the spread" of nuisance species like Asian carp from swimming between the Great Lakes and Mississippi basin - two grand drainages that were naturally separated until Chicago linked them over a century ago with the construction of its wastewater-carrying canal system.
