Carp plan

The Obama administration has a strategy for dealing with Asian carp, but it may not go far enough to keep the voracious fish out of the Great Lakes. The administration has introduced 13 measures in its 2011 strategy for Asian carp. The $74 million program calls for more genetic testing to monitor the carp population and new trap designs. The impact of barges on electric barriers constructed to keep carp out of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal will be examined as well.
