Annual Adopt-a-Beach event set for Saturday
MANITOWOC — The annual Adopt-a-Beach Cleanup is set for Saturday along Lake Michigan shores, including beaches in Manitowoc County. The event is set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with participants asked to gather at the Memorial Drive wayside across from the United Way. The event is sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Participants in four Great Lakes states — Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin — will remove and record data on thousands of pounds of trash found on beaches this year, which marks the 20th anniversary of the one-day event.
