$474,000 in grants awarded in Erie County to protect Lake Erie shoreline

Grants totaling $474,039 were awarded in Erie County to protect and preserve Pennsylvania's Lake Erie shoreline. The money is part of nearly $1.4 million in Coastal Zone Management Grants given to nonprofits and governmental agencies that border coastal zones or affect area water quality, according to a news release from the state Department of Environmental Protection. Most of the money comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
