$2M grant to aid in removal of dam

FREMONT, OH - The long-anticipated removal of the Ballville Dam south of Fremont will be aided by a $2 million federal grant announced Monday by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, according to officials in the office of U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo). The $10 million project is to help spawning of more Lake Erie fish, including walleye, in the Sandusky River, one of western Lake Erie's largest tributaries.
