Riverfront spot fuels debate
Port Huron, MI - An area businessman is seeking four variances from the Port Huron Zoning Board of Appeals to build a new home along the St. Clair River, but some who are opposing the plan say the riverbank needs to be restored, not built upon. Angelo Torello, owner of Fore Lakes Golf Club and Torello Demolition, is proposing building a 1,866-square-foot home on Merchant Street. The home would be built on a vacant lot between 910 and 918 Merchant St., with 90 feet of waterfront property.
