Port of Albany Dredging to Begin Soon

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Friday said it awarded a $3.3 million contract to remove 60,000 cubic yards of material from Albany Turning Basin in the Hudson River at the Port of Albany. The work will be done by Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co., based in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook. The dredging will improve access for ships arriving and departing from the Port of Albany, the Army Corps said. Work is expected to begin in mid-September with dredging to get under way in early October.
