Senator believes new alliances could help solve water level woes
Politics makes for strange bedfellows, as the old saying goes, and it's one Senator Bob Runciman feels would be put to good use by local advocates for sustainable St. Lawrence River water levels. Runciman said local groups who want the International Joint Commission (IJC) to adopt their favoured option for controlling water levels need to find allies in unexpected places. He said that includes working with environmentalists normally greeted with suspicion, and finding ways to reassure the interests of Quebecers and New Yorkers on the south shore of Lake Ontario that a solution is possible to accommodate concerns from all parties.
