Shipments will be safe: CNSC

If Canada's nuclear regulator grants Bruce Power a licence to ship steam generators through the Great Lakes from Owen Sound, the movements will be safe to both people and the environment, two experts told city council Monday. Ramzi Jammal, executive vice-president of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, said the federal agency will consider both the environmental and health impact of the low-level radioactive shipments, as well as the dose rates of the generators, and "will not compromise" on safety.
