PCB cleanup nears end

The long-awaited completion of the Superfund cleanup of the Sheboygan River should begin within 30 days, officials said Tuesday night at a public hearing on the progress of the project. "We are very eager to get into the water in 2010 so we can begin to remove the sediment," said Ken Aukerman, project manager for Pollution Risk Services, which will remove sediment containing polychlorinated byphenyls, or PCBs, from the river between Eighth and 14th streets.
