Great Lakes commission program enlisting fishermen to gather sea lamprey data
Michigan Sea Grant educators are working with charter boat associations, angler groups and other agencies to enlist fishermen in an online reporting program to catalog fish caught with lampreys, or the nasty wounds they leave. Officials with the Great Lakes Fishery Commission think the "Lamprey Hunter" program eventually might give resource managers another way to follow lamprey populations and gauge the effectiveness of control efforts.
