FLW Walleye Tour Heads to Illinois River

The FLW Walleye Tour Eastern Division will visit the Illinois River in Spring Valley, Ill., April 29-May 1 for the second of three stops in the Eastern circuit. The tournament will feature as many as 300 top walleye anglers casting for top awards up to $35,000 in the Pro Division and $7,500 in the Co-angler Division.

“We’ll catch a ton of fish,” said Dean Arnoldussen, who won the first event of the Walleye Tour season at the Detroit River. “It will be numbers during this tournament instead of quality. You’ll be able to catch fish jigging, pulling rigs, hand lining and trolling. Whatever guys like to do they will be able to do.

“Water levels are decent, so it should be a pretty good bite,” Arnoldussen continued. “That’s the biggest problem with Spring Valley is the water levels. But unless we get a load of rain next week, we should be OK.”

Anglers will take off from Spring Valley Boat Club located at 13862 Illinois Highway 89 in Spring Valley at 7 each morning. Weigh-ins all three days will be held at the marina beginning at 3 p.m. On Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m., prior to the final weigh-in, a Family Fishing Clinic will be held where fans can learn from the best the different styles, techniques, and baits for landing that prized walleye.

Entries for this tournament are being accepted up until the April 28 registration date.

In FLW Walleye Tour competition, anglers are also vying for valuable points in hopes of qualifying for the 2010 FLW Walleye Tour Championship held on Leech Lake in Walker, Minn., Sept. 23-25.
