It starts with graceful Beluga whales gliding through the cold, clear water in the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. Then you learn a quarter of the Beluga adults are dying of cancer. The poisons are coming from the geological marvels that contain 20 per cent of all the fresh water on Earth -- the Great Lakes, whose shores are home to 35 million people.
