The U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision on the Asian carp issue proves again that the intellectual dinosaurs on the court are decades behind the American public on certain issues. That's not always a bad thing. When public opinion gets too far ahead of the inherently conservative institutions of government, like the court and Congress, the result can be a disaster. Just witness the excesses of the French Revolution 200 years ago and the Russian Revolution early in the 20th Century. |
