Court tosses industry's suit over N.Y. ballast rules

A New York state appellate court has tossed out a challenge by the shipping industry over the state's ballast water treatment requirements for oceangoing ships visiting the Great Lakes.

The new law is intended to protect the Great Lakes from invasive species, but the shipping industry argued that it goes too far.
