DETROIT – In 1969, the Cuyahoga River caught fire, bringing national attention to the pollution destroying some of America's waterways and becoming a catalyst for the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency and water quality standards.
But it wasn't the only river that was so polluted it caught fire that year.
The Rouge River in Detroit, a tributary of the Detroit River that has been lined with heavy industry for decades, also burst into flames.
