Michael Symon, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay: They’ve all lauded Zingerman’s Bacon of the Month Club. The first week of each month, this Ann Arbor, Mich., go-to for all things artisan food will ship you 12 to 16 ounces of artisan bacon, bacon stories, histories and recipes. Options include classics like applewood smoked bacon, Tennessee dry cured bacon, cherrywood smoked bacon and exotics like juniper & thyme bacon, Balinese long pepper bacon, Spencer’s Irish-style back bacon and Hungarian double smoked bacon.

The Zingerman’s Community of Businesses is a family of ten businesses all located in the Ann Arbor area and reflects the novel strategy for business growth created by Zingerman’s Deli founders Paul Saginaw and Ari Weinzweig. Rather than replicating their deli through the franchise model, Paul and Ari instead chose to develop new, independent businesses, all rooted in the local community that work together as one organization.

Ari moved to Ann Arbor from his hometown of Chicago to attend the University of Michigan. After graduating with a degree in Russian history, he went to work washing dishes in a local restaurant and soon discovered that he loved the food business. Today, Zingerman’s is an Ann Arbor institution — the source of great food and great experiences for over 500,000 visitors every year.

“Our goal in 2020 is to leave our world better than it was when we came here,” says founder Weinzweig. “We do sell our candy bars, coffee, pastries and other items around Michigan and around the US, and you can get great food delivered to your door.”
