Excalibur Provides Wheel Chair Access to Lake Erie

March 2017 Multimedia

Excalibur is a private, non-profit all volunteer, charitable organization dedicated to providing adaptive boating and fishing opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged persons. Its goal is to provide access to Lake Erie, as well as offer developmental, therapeutic and recreational opportunities for Human Service Agency related programs.

The Buffalo, New York based non-profit bends over backward to ensure that the joy of boating on this Great Lake is open to all.

As someone who has spent some time in a wheelchair, this kind of project is tremendously exciting.

Passengers have the choice of either a boating or fishing excursion, and the vessel holds up to 21 people (Captain, two Excalibur escorts, and 18 passengers).  It is wheelchair accessible, and on average, can accommodate 6 wheelchairs.  From dockside to portside, Excalibur offers reliable access.

Excursions of approximately two hours run Monday through Friday during the season.
