Flynano: Surf the Waves and the Skies

January 2017 Multimedia

Best. Water toy. Ever. With a great jetski, sometimes you can feel like you’re just flying across the water, especially when you catch some air crossing a wake. Just like you’re flying. Well, get ready to drop the like (and your jaw) when you see the new microlight aircraft from Flynano that styles itself as a flying jetski. The Flynano aircraft takes off and lands exclusively from the water, carries no cargo, and requires no license to pilot. Suddenly that thin line at the horizon separating the blue of the waters below from the blue above sounds a clarion call to dance through wind and spray to heights above and beyond your wildest boating dreams. You’ve heard of off-road vehicles; consider this an off-water boat. The open cockpit and low seating make for a very wet take off and landing, so if you decide to fly one of these, be sure to wear a wet or dry suit to keep from freezing, but imagine the views! With a top speed of around 75mph and service ceiling of nearly two miles, this tiny 150 pound airplane punches way outside of its weight-class. Then, when it’s time to pack up, the wing can be disconnected from the fuselage for convenient transport and storage. Oh, and did I mention that it comes in all-electric or gas powered models?
